Frame Video
How do you take a frame of video taken from a digital camera and turn it into a picture?
I was recently in Mexico and there was this amazing lightening storm going on over the ocean. I had my Nikon Coolpix camera with me and we took video of the storm. If I slowly forward thru the video frame by frame, I could get some really cool pics where the sky is lit up with lightening and the palm trees are backlit...it's pretty wild. I really want to take a freeze frame of the video and make some prints but I am at a loss as to how to do it. I went on Nikon's website and found nothing. Please help!!
You need to import the video to your computer, then download some software that can do that. Which software you want will depend on whether it is a .mpg, .avi, or .mov. And Lord help you if your camera saves videos as .mov, because when I hear the words "proprietary format," Quicktime is one of the first things to come to mind.

One of the best things about it was that there was no sleet or rain, (in the houston area anyway) this was pure powdery snow. Palm trees and old shacks had snow all over them it was beautiful; one of the best days of my life.
