Estimate the size of laser spot in digital camera?
Hi all,
I took an image of a laser spot and want to estimate the size of laser spot. I kind of know use the pixel resolution of the digital camera, but I don't know exactly how to do it. What are the specification of the camera I need to figure out?

A good way to do this is to take a picture of a ruler or other reference length in the same plane as your laser spot. That way, you have a known length to compare to. Your image resolution will contribute to your margin of error. Low resolution images that appear "fuzzy" will have larger error.
Keep in mind it may be very difficult to determine the boundary of your spot depending on what mode your laser is operating in. From my experience, most lasers operate in the TEM00 mode. Also, the laser beam does not maintain a constant diameter, but will change constantly. It is smallest at it's focal length and will expand continuously after that. See the link:

This is a good post, but I was wondering how do I suscribe to the RSS feed?
Sometimes you are not positive whether or not a person is a spammer, so you approve their comment. But you are not satisfied. There is a field which you can see proper above the blacklist box referred to as remark moderation. Just put the phrases, e mail, URL, name, or IP and this specific person’s comment will always be moderated by the administrator. Also as you see in the picture above, there's a box that has the number 2. It is for the variety of URLs in the remark allowed. If the number exceeds the value in that enter field, then the comment will mechanically be held for moderation. 2 is the default quantity, however you can change it to make it 1 or increased than 2 to suit your need.

use a body wash- scented and a good one, not a cheapy one cuz they ruin ur skin and dont work. use the body wash with a lufa sponge and soap it all over in the shower. also use good quality, scented soap in areas that get sweaty and smelly. use a roll on deodirant after each shower, b4 u go out anywhere big and b4 bed and when u wake up. then spray ither a spray deodirant or a body spray all over. good luck, just igonre mean people like the people who told u that, they r probs just trying 2 b mean so dont feel self concious, ask a close frined or reliative if u really so smell like hot dog water b4 taking 2 DRASTIC measures

Firstly, assuming that the mirror is spherical it does not have a "principal axis". All axes that pass through the center of curvature are equivalent.
To find the correct answer use lens equation. This states that:

where z and are object and image distance from the two focal points and f are the front and rear focal lengths. You can calculate the answer yourself. (Google lens equation for sign conventions.)
Magnification can be derived to show m f/z –
Use this to calculate the image size.

You can prove this graphically by choosing objects inside, outside and at the focal point. Alternatively you can use equation.
Do the algebra yourself.
