How can I get wireless internet on my laptop?

Ok I feel slow by asking this but I can live with it!! But anyways I have a laptop and can not seem to get internet. I want to get wireless internet on it. I have a net gear router and I have to add an WEP key or something like that. I've been trying to get for a few hours now. If anyone knows anything could you please help me? Thanks!

Step 1: Install the software of your Netgear router (on your desktop pc), just insert the disk into your CD/DVD drive and follow the wizard. If the wizard is not displayed on your screen go to 'My Computer' icon and double click on it and then you are going to see several icons like your primary hard disk with the letter 'C' and other one like folders (directories) and your CD/DVD drive with other letter ID. But just press right click on it and select 'Autorun' option (this is going to launch the wizard).

Step 2: Follow each step on the wizard and when the security setting credential is needed select pleas WEP and later on enter your secret password for your wireless internet, it's very importan do not forget this password because is the only way you or other person can use your internet. Also when the wizard ask if you'd like to change the name of your router do it, try to rename a easy name for your router, example : MyOffice, SuperUser, SuperRouter, etc. Later save all setting and if you are asked to re-boot your pc do it.

Step 3: go to your laptop and right click on your wireless network icon on the left bottom on your screen (this is your task bar windows). And select 'View available network connections' option and your are going to see a list of all your internet router around you, and you are going to see the name of your router displayed.

Step 4: double click on your router name and then your need to enter the password you saved on your netgear intallation you did on your desktop pc.

Step 5: you are going to see the same icon on your task bar (the icon where your find the 'View available network connections' and it going to display a message like this : "Acquiring network address" just wait to get the other message like this : "Connected"

Step 6: Have fun !!!

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

Jesus… Why is every “nerd” presentation exactly the same? Step 1) Start with some really lame topic Step 2) Make joke of said lame topic Step 3) Try and be tricky, but end up being very obvious All these happened within the first minutes. It’s like people like this guy are trying way to hard to be cool/funny. Also, the way he talks is the same as well. Im guessing the pauses or something between each word. *Bonus Step* Have equally awkward people in the audience. He also seems to be really obsessed w/ My Little Pony. He has more MLP videos than any male, straight or gay, youtube bio should have.

I know every brand has it's customers who have had bad experiences, but I personally can't stand Netgear. I have a Netgear router as a secondary access point for a couple devices in another room, and I have to power it off and back on every time I use it. I hear that's pretty normal with Netgear, but it's a pain. I had a discussion with a tech from the cable company recently about getting a router with a built-in modem, and this guy really knew his stuff and impressed me, and I'm not easily impressed. He pointed out that getting your modem and router as one unit is a gimmick that causes more problems than it is worth. If one part dies, you're spending the money replacing the whole thing, and it's just the same when one part goes out of date. If you want to upgrade beyond Wireless N someday, do you want to have to replace your modem, too? If your internet provider upgrades beyond ADSL2, do you want to have to replace the router part with it, and have to set up a whole new network? What if you just want to switch to cable internet [...]

Thank you for your comment Jesse, and it will vary from day to day, depending on what kind of connection you have and what kind of traffic there is on ones node, as well as the traffic on the internet (all the servers in between you and the testing host). When I had AGC in Daytona BEach a wireless internet service to the house, I could download a 60meg file in about 3 seconds. Unfortunately..I only had AGC for the 4 months they used Daytona Beach as a test bed for their service before moving to Orlando. But it was great during that time.

Hmm, this might just fit the bill. My wireless router (DI-524 flashed to a DI-624) drops connections like crazy when three wireless and one wired connections are active at once… I was considering replacing it, but if Opera Turbo reduces the ammount of data congestion by as much as 80% then i might not have to replace it, as there would simply be less strain on the router. give this a shot first.
