  we didn't want flowers or bouquets. i kinda sorta wanted a parisol – but nixed that thought due to the fact i just wanted it for photographs, vain as i'm; and kinda sorta wanted to carry an antique hard-bound book – but did not want anybody thinking it may possibly be a bible! so we ended up doing the hold-nothing choice we liked all along. bonus: holding each your partner's hands in yours and seeking her proper in the eye in the moment you say your vows.

  Dear Mr. Booth,

  In your remedy to the United States Vs. America problem you yourself have committed the same crime. To refer to the United States as United Statesians as opposed to Americans would be to usurp the title United States from other countries who use it, such as the United States of Mexico. If we are to take Mexico as an example, it would make sense to follow their grammatical structure. United States of Mexico = Mexico therefore, the United States of America = America.

  Well y’see you’re wrong Because minivans although not strictly necessary do to station wagons, minivans are not massive vehicles that weigh 6,000 pounds, and have massive blind spots. I’m not against sport utility vehicles at all, but there is absolutely no reason to have them above a certain size. Pick up trucks serve a purpose, unlike the oversize SUV, however i maintain there should be limits to the size of pick up trucks, where as larger ones require a different license, if you are a farmer or construction worker who requires such a large truck that’s fine. But there is no reason for soccer moms and spoiled teenagers to have 6,000 pound SUV’s and (usually) lifted trucks with absolutely massive wheels. Cadillac doesn’t even figure into this argument at all, unless you are talking about the escalade, which shouldn’t exist in the first place. There is nothing wrong with having a luxury sedan/coupe. Is it really so crazy to think that, if you wan’t to drive a massive vehicle, you have to have a special license for it? Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t some sort of save the environment thing, as i’m a bit of a gear head, and [...]

  They are united by the Constitution and a shared federal government. I'm not saying this to be flippant; it is the simple truth. When the Founding Fathers decided to call the new nation the United States of America, it wasn't because they were all real buddy-buddy and got along real great and had a pleasant, friendly feeling. They called it that because they are, literally, united states. By the way, North America is quite different from America/the United States. North America consists of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, so it is understandable why the U.S. is not "united" with North America.

  People like to be proud of where they come from, at all levels. Even once you get inside states, you will hear people say that their city/town is better than another. Then when you get to the towns, they start talking about neighborhoods, streets, even families. I think this is because people are naturally inclined to be a part of small, uniform societies whose members are as much like themselves as possible.
